Kazakh special agency denies arrest of investigation team on "uranium case"
"This statement is a groundless assumption. We have no time to comment on every circulating rumor," Beknazarov told the Vzglyad newspapers issued on Friday.
"Djakishev's health is stable. His lawyer and wife say that he is having high blood pressure. However, the medical unit of the pre-trial detention facility is monitoring his health," Beknazarov said. " We are constantly commenting on this situation. Should we start issuing daily updates on prisoners' health in detention?!"
On Thursday some media published an anonymous letter revealing that the entire investigation team working on Djakishev's case was put under house arrest after the leak of the case-related sensitive information. The letter refers to Djakishev's video interview given to an anonymous source posted in the Internet on November 4. Mukhtar Djakishev reportedly said in the online video that Russia was torpedoing the development of the Kazakh nuclear sector.
As reported, the investigation into the uranium case was launched in March this year on charges of embezzlement brought against Kazatomprom top managers. The case provoked a massive public response.
